I'm having trouble with card payments
Trouble with card payments? Here are some things to check:
- App version: Make sure that you’re using the latest version of the app.
- Payout account: Make sure you’ve added and verified your payout account in the business portal. Just log in to the business portal, select your Mobile Point-of-Sale from the left menu, and check the settlement tab to see which account is registered. If it’s wrong, update it there.
- Device: Only mobile phones (not tablets) with NFC can accept card payments.
- Supported cards: Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
- Business type: Some specific businesses (like software shops, antiques dealer, betting company, crowdfunding or donor organisations) can’t use card payments.
- Internet: Card payments won’t work unless your device is connected to the internet.
- Phone calls: It's not possible to take payments during a phone call.
- App open: The app must be open and on-screen with nothing covering it.
- Date & time: Automatic date and time need to be enabled on your device. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and turn on ‘Set automatically’.
Device-specific tips:
- iPhone: You need iPhone XS or newer, with a passcode enabled. Recording or taking screenshots during a payment won’t work.
- Android: Use Android 11 or newer. Remove phone covers if NFC isn’t working, and place the card as shown. Turn off full-screen/gesture navigation and developer options.
