Does it cost anything to send money abroad?

Sending money abroad with Vipps costs 4% of the amount you send.

When you enter the amount that you want to send, Vipps calculates approximately how many Norwegian kroner that will be deducted from your card. The exchange rate you see in Vipps is from Norges Bank and shows approximately how much that will be deducted. However, it is your bank’s exchange rate that ultimately determines the exact amount deducted.

In addition to this, most banks will add a currency surcharge (a fee for paying with a card abroad). The exact amount varies from bank to bank and is typically between 1–3%. This is a separate fee that we have no control over or influence on.

Here's an example: You send 200 DKK to Marie in Denmark. In addition, Vipps charges a fee of 4%, making the total 208 DKK. With today's exchange rate from the bank, this equates to approximately 320.58 NOK, which is deducted from your card. Marie still receives her 200 DKK.
