What is a PEP?

A PEP is a politically exposed person.

One is considered as a PEP in the following positions:

  • Head of state or government, minister, deputy minister or assistant minister
  • Member of the national assembly (Parliament)
  • Member of the governing body of a political party
  • Member of a supreme court or other high-level judicial body
  • Member of the board of directors of a supreme audit institution, a court of audit, or a central bank
  • Ambassador, chargé d’affaires or high-ranking officer in the armed forces
  • Member of an administrative, managerial or supervisory body of a state-owned enterprise
  • Director, board member or other person in top management of an international organization (e.g. UN, NATO)
