Does it cost anything to send money abroad?

Sending money abroad with MobilePay costs 4% of the amount you send.

When you enter the amount that you want to send, MobilePay calculates approximately how many euros will be deducted from your card. The exchange rate you see in MobilePay is from Norges Bank and shows approximately how much that will be deducted. However, it is your bank’s exchange rate that ultimately determines the exact amount deducted.

In addition to this, most banks will add a currency surcharge (a fee for paying with a card abroad). The exact amount varies from bank to bank. This is a separate fee that we have no control over or influence on.

Here’s an example: I send NOK 100 to my friend Frida in Norway. The price is 100 NOK, which is estimated to be around 8.70 EUR. We charge a 4% conversion fee for 100 NOK, making a total of 9.05 EUR for 100 NOK. In addition, your bank may charge a separate currency conversion fee for the transfer.
