How to get MobilePay when you’re young
Are you between 13 and 15 years old? Then you can absolutely get MobilePay, even if the road there has a few bumps. We’ve made a guide with the steps you’ll most likely need to go through. It all depends on which payment method and which bank you have. First, check that you meet all the requirements.
Get your card ready for online shopping
To start using MobilePay, your payment method has to be enabled for online shopping. Your parents might be able to fix this themselves in their online bank. If not, they need to contact the bank.
For example, your parents can say to the bank: “I’d like to open my child’s card for online shopping and link a mobile number to the card.””
You also need to activate your card for 3D Secure. The easiest way is with MitID. Some banks are not ready for MitID yet, and then you’ll need an SMS code instead. So please make sure your bank has linked your mobile number to your card.
Note: If you’re a Danske Bank customer, skip this step and instead go to danskebank.dk/kortstyring.
Have your MitID ready
Download the MitID app and create your user. You can do this already when you are thirteen.
Have your passport ready.
You need MitID when you sign up as a MobilePay user. You’ll probably also need MitID to get your card ready for online shopping.
Register your card for online shopping
Wait, hasn’t the bank already made my card ready for online shopping?
Yep, your bank has opened your card for online shopping. Now you just need to actively register your card for online payments. You can either do it by linking your card and phone number with a password, or you can just breeze through with MitID. It all starts on this page: nets.eu/3ds.
There’s also a detailed guide to 3D Secure. It’s there to make online shopping safer – so it’s really for everyone’s benefit, not to make things difficult.
Open MobilePay
You’re finally ready to move on. Open the MobilePay app and follow the steps to create a profile.
When you enter your card details, you’ll be asked to use MitID. If your bank isn’t ready to enrol the card with MitID, you need to tap the “SMS+kode” button instead. If you can’t see the button, your bank still needs to link your mobile number to your card. Then you’re back to step 1.
Otherwise, it just takes a couple of taps and then...
…Congrats, you now have MobilePay 🎊
